Frequently Asked Questions

What is granite?

Granite is an igneous rock, which means that at one time during its development, it was melted like volcanic lava. Unlike lava, however, this melted rock never reached the surface; it remained trapped inside the earth, where it slowly cooled and crystallized. The end result is a very uniform, speckled stone that ranges in color from black and gray tones to pinks, browns, reds, greens and whites.

Granites are quarried throughout the world in the form of huge blocks and then reduced into slabs. These slabs are then carefully crafted by fabricators who process them into the final product.

Where does your granite come from?

All of our granite is imported from Italy and Brazil.

What styles of edges do you have?

Granite Creations has a wide variety of edge styles. We have several default edges as well as more elaborate, custom edges that you can upgrade to for a small additional price. Please see our edge details page for more information about the kinds of edges we offer.

How do I care for and clean my granite countertops?

Because granite is a natural surface, cleaning and maintaining your granite requires a different process than regular countertops. Do not use normal household cleaning solutions on your granite countertops! For more information, please see our section on granite care and maintenance.

How do I get a quote?

Call us at (520) 579-3111 and ask to speak to a sales representative. They will ask you some questions about what you want to have done. Because granite prices vary by color, it might be necessary for you to make an appointment to come into our slab yard to pick out a color that you want to use in your home (click here to see a small sample of the many colors we carry). You will also need to provide us with the dimensions of the area that you would like the granite countertops fabricated for; the actual dimensions rather than total square footage will be necessary for us to give the most accurate estimate possible. While these are not the final measurements that will be used, the more accurate they are, the more accurate your estimate will be.

After I pick out my colors and approve the estimate, what happens next?

After approving the estimate, we will contact you within 48 hours to schedule dates for an appointment to get a precise measurement of your countertops for a template as well as for installation. It usually takes 10-14 business days after the template is created to fabricate the countertops. Installation will take place soon after.

What is Granite Shield?

To protect your investment, all natural stone products should be initially sealed. Granite Shield is a product that reacts with the oxygen in granite to form a crystalline carbon seal which makes the counters water and stain proof. Granite Shield will last the lifetime of your granite.

For more information, you can view Granite Shield's website at www.graniteshield.net.

Do you sell any materials other than granite?

We will also fabricate and install Cambria and Ceasarstone countertops, both of which are engineered, quartz-based stone products. Since we have to special order these materials, there is a significantly longer lead time than with our granite products.

For more information on these materials, please visit the following web sites: Cambria website | Ceasarstone website.
